Authentication
From Uweb
- CAS is an authentication system (originally created by Yale) to provide a trusted way for an application to authenticate a user; CAS became a Jasig project in December 2004. CAS provides enterprise single sign on service via an open and well-documented protocol. Open source documentation and implementation support is available by an extensive community of adopters; an abundance of clients are available supporting e.g. IIS .net, Apache, Java, PHP, Perl, Python, MediaWiki, TikiWiki, Moodle, WordPress, WPMU, Zope.
- The Jasig clients may not be ready for retrieving extended attributes (i.e. UIN) from the cas.tamu.edu service but they will work with it for basic authentication.
- Talk to TAMU web developers on the list if you require assistance with your client solution, and stay subscribed to keep informed of changes, maintenance, and announcements.
