Purchasing Adobe Products
With any decision to purchase Adobe software consideration should be given to include Upgrade Protection, adds about 1/3 extra cost. This ensures all updates through December of 2007, when your present Adobe contract expires. In January of 2008, you can choose to re-purchase only the upgrade protection that will last through December of 2010. Bottom line is you never pay the full license price again.
References
The best local reference is the use of Dreamweaver Contribute at the Vet School. Justin Flynn said he is more than glad to answer questions, provide access to their sites, and explain how they arrived at choosing their software to automate and standardize their templates and procedures for updating individual contributor pages.

There is a Total Training DVD series on the Adobe web software. If you're interested in checking this out, contact Kendra Beasley (kbeasley@science.tamu.edu). We will look into keeping this somewhere central (like the library) as a shared physical resource.

Excellent Presentation!
Implementation of Contribute is WAY easier than the presentation suggests. we have had great succes implementing Contribute at the College of Veterinary Medicine

Very easy to use, very scalable, not overly restrictive
Have connections setup before presentation
Workflow/permission setup will take time. And it looks like it will be per site. Making templates will take time but is editable
